DON’T GO NEAR QUECHUP!!

September 12th, 2007 Comments

Picture 1.pngSeriously. I was curious and signed up with the service last week and then found out that Quechup has been spamming users’ contacts. A couple social networking sites interface with Gmail, Yahoo! and others to give you the ability to see which of your contacts in your address book are using the service you signed up for. For the most part these services don’t abuse that trust. Quechup does. I closed my account last week and I started seeing mails from my contacts indicating that notwithstanding that I have closed my account, these bastards are spamming all my contacts.

PLEASE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY INVITATION APPARENTLY FROM ME TO SIGN UP WITH QUECHUP. IT IS A TRAP, IT IS EVIL AND ALL BAD. THE INVITATIONS WILL LOOK LEGIT BUT IT IS JUST SPAM!

I apologise to everyone who has been spammed by these people.

Twitter Updates for 2007-07-31

July 31st, 2007 Comments
  • I started a new media law and policy group on Facebook yesterday at http://tinyurl.com/28jhl3 #
  • I’d love some feedback on a channel I created on Jaiku for all my law related content: http://jaiku.com/channel/JacobsonLaw #
  • Heading out to Killarney to drop off some docs for collection or at the post office. Might get Seattle fix at the same time. #
  • Listening to the latest ilifezone and it seems there more and more reasons not to get an iPhone #
  • Standing in line at the Killarney post office. This post office runs very much like the cliched public service disservice. #
  • Whoever runs the post office should be fired. There is so much scope for improvement. So many missed opportunities. #
  • The m.twitter.com site works really well on my mobile. #
  • After my post office rant the woman who served me was pretty helpful. She told me that Fastmail post must be posted in special box #
  • The guys at the Killarney Seattle are fantastic. Make great lattes and bring them to me even though it is up to me to collect my order. #
  • @PaulWalsh Everyone loves Justine! She is just that cool! #
  • @PaulWalsh Wipe your chin there … you’re drooling a little ;-) #
  • @PaulWalsh Facebook seems to be either very slow if not available on my side too #
  • Got a waterproofing guy here to quote on repairs to our roof. Boy it is hot in the sun today. #
  • Some people’s inhumanity amazes me: http://pauljacobson.tumblr.com/post/7250120 #
  • Almost out of my Moo cards #
  • Anyone finding their Facebook Inboxes not what they should be? It seems the Facebook hacks are gaining momentum. #
  • If you need help with your Facebook profile and it seems to have been compromised, here is a starting point: http://www.facebook.com/hel#
  • My suggestion is to remove any credit card records in your account or info you don’t want made public in case you are hacked. #
  • http://www.facebook.com/help.php?page=9 #
  • Darn 140 character limits! #
  • @PaulWalsh Yes, I do and my account looks fine. I have heard reports of inboxes being scrambled though. #
  • @PaulWalsh That makes sense. I am wondering now about the feasibility of Facebook as a reliable platform #
  • @PaulWalsh Are you going to be involved in TechCrunch UK? #
  • Just been interviewed by The Times for an article about Facebook problems #
  • Don’t know what possessed me to take the freeway. Bumper to bumper and I’m late. #
  • Ok, I am heading to bed. Just posted my thoughts about the Facebook chaos to www.jacobson.co.za #
