Zuma is not quite free

As you may know, the Pietermaritzburg High Court ruled in the State's application for a postponement in the Jacob Zuma/Thint corruption trial yesterday.  I was driving around Joburg and I noticed headlines proclaiming "Zuma Free".  These headlines are a little misleading.  Sure the court ruled that the case be struck off the roll but all that means is that the case will not proceed now.

As the prosecutors pointed out in an IOL article published yesterday, the State can now finalise their investigations without having to comply with strict time periods established by a court and then file new charges against Zuma and his co-accused.

The bottom line is that Zuma is not quite off the hook yet.
