Star Wars Episode 3 on Windows XP 64 bit

Windows_masthead_ltrHere is something interesting.  Apparently the final installment in the Star Wars franchise, "Revenge of the Sith" (due for release in May, I believe) was rendered on the beta version of the 64 bit version of Windows XP.  The Inquirer has reported as follows:

MICROSOFT said that the famous upcoming Star Wars Episode III, Revenge of the sith was rendered on beta version in Windows 64 bit.

This means this operating system is a desirable option if even in its
beta stage it was good enough to render a state of the art movie. The
company called Jak Movies decided to go for Windows 64 bit since it was
faster to render under 64 bit Windows.

Maybe only one small part of the movie was rendered this way. When they started the production there was not even a beta version ow Windows XP for AMD64 available and so I guess they just used their existing 64-bit Linux rendering farm to do the job. And I'm sure they would not risk such an important project to try to use some beta OS and beta apps. So they must have used WinXP for AMD64 just for some small and not so important part.

That may well be. Interesting development nonetheless. I imagine there may be a way to find out once the movie is released?

Thanks for the comment!
