Twitter has gone from the hot new app to on the way out in a matter of days since SXSW.  In a way, though, this trend (assuming it has transitioned like this so quickly) may be Twitter’s bubble burst giving way to a Twitter renaissance.  Web Worker Daily has a couple ideas how to use Twitter professionally, ie in a truly productive manner:

1. Make existing professional relationships stronger and more intimate.
2. Get questions answered.
3. Expand your professional network.
4. Promote your blog posts.
5. See what people are interested in.
6. Find out when your colleagues are available for a chat.
7. Create an ad hoc back channel at conferences.
8. Learn important news.

Twitter may seem like a goofy thing kids are going to spend their lives playing with but there are definitely business uses for this technology that shouldn’t be underestimated.  That being said, Twitter is not a new replacement for every other form of communication.  It is another tool that serves a purpose.
