Mindfulness

One of the most important practices in Buddhism is mindfulness.  Here is a passage that was posted on Zen Guide which illustrates this principle in the context of non-duality:

When you are in anger, just be with it, because you are it at that moment.
When you are in desire, just be with it, because you are it at that moment.
When you are in stupidity, just be with it, because you are it at that moment.
When you are in frustration, just be with it, because you are it at that moment.
When you are in fear, just be with it, because you are it at that moment.
When you are in sadness, just be with it, because you are it at that moment.
When you are in happiness, just be with it, because you are it at that moment.
When you are in sorrow, just be with it, because you are it at that moment.
When you are in joy, just be with it, because you are it at that moment.
When you are in dying, just be with it, because you are it at that moment.
When you are dead, the whole universe of yours is dead, too.
And this is the Greatest Beauty of Death that makes Life Sacred and Beautiful.
