Nokia and Microsoft hook up

Moneyweb has reported that Nokia and Microsoft have signed a deal that introduces Windows Media technology into Nokia phones in anticipation of a 3G boom and an increased demand for phones that can stream and download music.  I didn’t see this one coming but then again, it does make sense to have this kind of service available.  But a deal between Nokia and Microsoft?

It also seems that Nokia is going to be using Microsoft synchronisation software to resolve some of the synchronisation bugs when it comes to synchronising contacts and calendar information.  What I’d like to see is some alternative to Microsoft PIM software that Nokia phones can synchronisation.  I know Apple has excellent software but I’d like to see something on a Windows platform.  But that is just me.
